DIY
Foul smell from the drain? Bacterial biofilm in the pipe, dried-out P-trap letting sewer gas through, or food debris in the disposal or overflow. Most drain odors fixed in under 30 minutes with household items.
Tools:
Baking soda and white vinegar
Old toothbrush or small bottle brush
Pipe cleaner (for overflow channel)
Ice cubes, rock salt, and lemon (for disposal cleaning)
Kettle or pot for hot water
Mineral oil (for P-trap evaporation prevention)
Chipped or Cracked Sink

Chips and cracks in porcelain, enamel, fireclay, composite, and acrylic sinks range from cosmetic to structural. Small chips fix with a touch-up kit. Larger cracks may need refinishing or replacement.
Tools:
Porcelain repair kit / touch-up paint (color-matched, $10-20)
Fine-grit sandpaper (400-600 grit)
Denatured alcohol or acetone (for surface cleaning)
Two-part waterproof epoxy (for structural crack temporary repair)
Mineral oil (for composite sink restoration)
Soft cloths and non-abrasive sponges
